TARRYTOWN, N.Y. — There's no reason to leave the Tarrytown area this weekend if you're looking for something to do. Here's a list of weekend events in Tarrytown, Sleepy Hollow and Irvington.

Friday

Fables, Parables and Songs: The Humor and Wisdom of the Jewish People at 4:30 p.m. at the Hudson Valley Writers' Center. Admission is $15.

Civil War 150th Anniversary Exhibit at the Sleepy Hollow-Tarrytown Historical Society. 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Jacob Odell House at 1 Grove St. in Tarrytown.

Irvington Historical Society Meeting featuring one-woman, one-act play “Rosie the Riveter” at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $5.

Irvington High School Student Vs. Faculty Basketball Game: 7:30 p.m. Admission is $5. Irvington High School Gym.

Sleepy Hollow Players Perform “Wait Until Dark” at Sleepy Hollow High School Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students. Three con men think that they have found an easy mark in the young, blind Susy Hendrix.  However, Susy is far more clever and resourceful than they realize, and turns the tables on the criminals in a taut, suspenseful climax that will leave audiences breathless.

Aardvark Improvisation Theatre at the Irvington Public Library at 2 p.m.

Capitol Heights Lyric Opera at 2:30 p.m. at Warner Library. The capitol lyric opera presents highlights from Carmen, Don Giovanni, The Barber of Seville and La Cenerentola.

Tarrytown Farmers Market at Patriot's Park. 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The market is held every Saturday through Thanksgiving and draws together farmers and artisan foods producers from around New York State, selling fresh fruit and produce, chicken, eggs, cheese, baked goods and more. The market also features live music, children's activities, plus representatives from a multitude of community groups. It's the place to shop, meet up with your neighbors and find out what's going on in the village.

Soprano singer Yolanda F. Johnson launches her album “Feel the Spririt” at Warner Library at 2 p.m.
