TARRYTOWN, N.Y. — There's no reason to leave the Tarrytown area this weekend if you're looking for something to do. Here's a list of weekend events in Tarrytown, Sleepy Hollow and Irvington.

Friday

Book Sale at the Irvington Public Library: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

History Cab: 12 teams will compete on their knowledge of local, state and national history at Irvington Town Hall Theater. 7 p.m. Visit www.irvingtonhistoricalsociety.org.

Civil War 150th Anniversary Exhibit at the Sleepy Hollow-Tarrytown Historical Society. 2 to 4 p.m. at the Jacob Odell House at 1 Grove St. in Tarrytown.

Andrew Bird at the Tarrytown Music Hall. 8 p.m. Andrew Bird is a masterful and intuitive singer/songwriter, and the music and soundscapes he creates while performing; alternately plucking and bowing his violin, then immediately sampling the results, layering the sounds with guitar, whistling, glockenspiel and vocals, are something quite unique and extraordinarily beautiful.

Creepy Carnival at Warner Library: 1 p.m. Crafts, face painting, games and more! Ragamuffin parade to follow.

Irvington's "Harvest Hayride." 5:30 to 8:30 at Matthiessen Park. Haunted hayrides begin after 6:30 .m.

“Once Upon a Time: The Stories of the Brothers Grimm and Washington Irving” at the Irvington Historical Society. 1 p.m.

Tarrytown Farmer's Market at Patriot's Park. 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tarrytown Farmer's Market in Patriot's Park every Saturday through Thanksgiving draws together farmers and artisan foods producers from around New York State, selling fresh fruit and produce, chicken, eggs, cheese, baked goods and more. The market also features live music, children's activities, plus representatives from a multitude of community groups. It's the place to shop, meet up with your neighbors and find out what's going on in the village.

Vocalist Marlene VerPlanck at Warner Library. Friends of the Library Concert. 2:30 p.m. VerPlanck will perform familiar standards and new songs from America's finest composers.
