Things To Do In The Tarrytowns This Weekend

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. — There’s no reason to leave the Tarrytown area this weekend if you’re looking for something to do. Here’s a list of weekend events in Tarrytown, Sleepy Hollow and Irvington.

 

Friday

 “Perspectives of Light…and Dark”, photographs of lighthouses by Dani Jackson on exhibit in the Martucci Gallery at the Irvington Public Library. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free.

Farmers Market: Stone Barns Center’s produce, meat and eggs will be on sale from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at 630 Bedford Road, Pocantico Hills. 

Civil War 150th Anniversary Exhibit at the Sleepy Hollow-Tarrytown Historical Society. 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Jacob Odell House at 1 Grove Street in Tarrytown.

Cinderella at the Tarrytown Music Hall, 7 p.m. Rodgers & Hammerstein's classic musical performed by the students of Random Farms Kids' Theater, a resident company at The Music Hall. Proceeds from "Premium" ticket sales benefit RFKT's scholarship fund. Children's, Senior and group discounts available.

The GC Trio performs at the Black Cat Café in Irvington from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Free Jazz Concert at Patriot’s Park 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Featured artist: Gerry Malkin Quartet.

Piano Bar at Bistro Z at the Doubletree Hotel in Tarrytown. 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

 

Saturday

Flow Circus Magic & Juggling Show. At 11 a.m. at the Warner Library in Tarrytown.

Summer on the Farm Weekend at Stone Barns Center for Food & Agriculture on Aug. 6 offers family activities including, scavenger hunts, hands on farm chores, a farm market, tastings, plantings and more. Tarrytown Farmer's Market at Patriot’s Park. 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tarrytown Farmer's Market in Patriot's Park every Saturday through Thanksgiving draws together farmers and artisan foods producers from around New York state, selling fresh fruit and produce, chicken, eggs, cheese, baked goods and more. The market also features live music, children's activities, plus representatives from a multitude of community groups. It's the place to shop, meet up with your neighbors and find out what's going on in the village.

Folk/acoustic duo Human Hands performs at the Black Cat Café in Irvington from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Summer Nights with Ingmar Bergman at the Tarrytown Music Hall: Persona. 7 p.m. A modernist masterpiece that reflects on the medium of film itself as it tells the story of a nurse assigned to care for an actress who refuses to speak (Liv Ullmann, in a star-making performance), Persona is a multilayered film about theater, psychology, and the transference of personality that is considered by many, including Susan Sontag, to be his masterpiece.. $5 ticket price.

Piano Bar at Bistro Z at the Doubletree Hotel in Tarrytown. 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

 

Sunday

Sleepy Hollow Lighthouse Tours. From 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Kingsland Point Park. Last tour begins at 2:30 p.m. Admission: $5 for adults, $3 for kids.

Seven Sundays at the Old Dutch Church. 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.  A celebration of eclectic music in worship at the legendary Old Dutch Church of Sleepy Hollow.  Includes musical theater, Uilleann Pipe, Latin guitar, Opera, Renaissance Choral, woodwind quintet, and an a cappella choir.

Small Press Celebration at the Hudson Valley Writers’ Center. Come meet the members of the Inkwell, Toadlily Press, the Westchester Review, and our own Slapering Hol Press as The Hudson Valley Writers' Center celebrates and supports the enthusastic and important community of small, independent presses and writers. Price: $5.
