Things To Do In The Tarrytown Area This Weekend

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. — There’s no reason to leave the Tarrytown area this weekend if you’re looking for something to do. Here’s a list of weekend events in Tarrytown, Sleepy Hollow and Irvington.

 

Friday

 

Abstract Collage paintings by Donald Fortenberry on exhibit in the Martucci Gallery at the Irvington Public Library. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free.

Civil War 150th Anniversary Exhibit at the Sleepy Hollow-Tarrytown Historical Society. 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Jacob Odell House at 1 Grove Street in Tarrytown.

Farmers Market: Stone Barns Center’s produce, meat and eggs will be on sale from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at 630 Bedford Road, Pocantico Hills.

Cinderella at the Tarrytown Music Hall, 7 p.m. Rodgers & Hammerstein's classic musical performed by the students of Random Farms Kids' Theater, a resident company at The Music Hall. Proceeds from "Premium" ticket sales benefit RFKT's scholarship fund. Children's, Senior and group discounts available.

Monuments, Memories and Historical Happenings in Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown with Sara Mascia and MaryAnn Marshall. 7 to 9 p.m. at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. Sara Mascia and MaryAnn Marshall present a slide show and lecture on the rich history, charm, and mystery of Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow and their residents. Drawing on images from their two books, "Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow in the 20th Century" and "Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow," Mascia and Marshall bring the past to life: residents at work and play, stately mansions and castles, famous personalities, and changes in fashion over the years. Also vividly brought to life is the location Washington Irving made famous in his short story “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.” Free admission.

Tarrytown Farmer's Market at Patriot’s Park. 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tarrytown Farmer's Market in Patriot's Park every Saturday through Thanksgiving draws together farmers and artisan foods producers from around New York state, selling fresh fruit and produce, chicken, eggs, cheese, baked goods and more. The market also features live music, children's activities, represenatatives from a multitude of community groups. It's the place to shop, meet up with your neighbors and find out what's going on in the village.

Summer Nights with Ingmar Bergman at the Tarrytown Music Hall: Wild Strawberries. 7 p.m. In the innovative and humane film that made Bergman an international star, an aging professor, traveling to receive an award, is forced to re-examine his life through a series of dreams, fantasies, flashbacks, and chance encounters during the road trip. $5 ticket price.

Piano Bar at Bistro Z at the Doubletree Hotel in Tarrytown. 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

The Kelty Twins at the Set Back Inn (33 Main St. Tarrytown). 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. The Kelty Twins will be performing accoustic and electric versions of music from the 60's... The Kelty Twins contiune the tradition of adding their own style of three part harmonies to classic rock and pop music. No cover. No minimum.

 

Sunday

Seven Sundays at the Old Dutch Church. 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.  A celebration of eclectic music in worship at the legendary Old Dutch Church of Sleepy Hollow.  Includes musical theater, Uilleann Pipe, Latin guitar, Opera, Renaissance Choral, woodwind quintet, and an a cappella choir.

Goin’ Back Home: The Blues in Word & Song at the Hudson Valley Writers’ Center. 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Get a contemporary taste of the old Deep South blues groove with writer and musician Adam Gussow. Gussow will entertain and enthrall with his one-man band and reading. Price: $15.
