The GYM in Armonk will be hosting and conducting a variety of classes with proceeds going to Tarrytown-based Make-A-Wish Foundation of The Hudson Valley.

Last year, The GYM raised $7,500, allowing a 7-year old to swim with the dolphins. This year, The GYM is hoping to raise enough money to grant two wishes.

"We are thrilled to be partnering with The GYM," Thomas Conklin, president and CEO of Make-A-Wish Foundation of Hudson Valley said.  "The GYM has constantly shown itself to be an organization that is dedicated to children in the Hudson Valley region with life threatening conditions."

Lisa Gagliardi, fitness director of The GYM, said the fitness center enjoys helping children.

"It really hits home," Gagliardi said. "These children are sick and in need. They are in need of feeling better. When it comes to helping out children, we love to donate."

The GYM helps out with other charities including holding classes for breast cancer awareness month in October, helping The Wounded Warriors Project and raising money for cystic fibrosis.

"It's very important to help the community," Gagliardi said. "We are involved in Armonk. I have two children and I thank God they are healthy. It really makes you feel good."

The classes will be open to gym members and non-members alike on a first come, first serve basis. There is a required donation of $30 for each class and registration is required in advance. Sign-up sheets are located at the Customer Service Desk at THE GYM, or you may register by calling (914) 219-1601.

Some of the classes included in the Make-A-Wish fundraiser are:

• POUND – Saturday, Jan. 11, 8:30 a.m.: Channel your inner performer & rock your body with this modern-day fusion of movement and music. Using RipstixTM (weighted drumsticks engineered for exercise), POUND transforms drumming into an effective workout.
