The 18th annual parade started on North Broadway in Tarrytown and marched down to Beekman Avenue in Sleepy Hollow. It featured police and firefighters from the two towns and the surrounding municipalities, as well as several local marching bands, Irish dancers and bands, girl scout troops and other community organizations.
The parade was led by Grand Marshal Paul Clarke as well as aides Josephine Galgano, Wayne T. Jeffers, Jr. , Peggy Lockwood, John Malone, Sr., Bob McLoughlin, Rodney “Cha Cha” Rodriquez, Geri Winterroth Speranza and Patricia Chemka.
Clarke thanked the aides, the marshals and the parade committee for putting the event together.
"Let's keep growing it, make it bigger and better every year, and thank you all for your support," Clarke said.
Parade Chairman Tom Kennedy said that the parade has gotten larger every year.
"We started with two, Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow, and we've now added eight towns to our parade. This is why our parade has grown in leaps and bounds each year, and you can see it here today with a large crowd," he said.
Kennedy said that Clarke has played a large role in the parade throughout the years, and he was happy that he took on the role of Grand Marshal this year.
"This guy is really the backbone of this parade. He's been here 18 years since the parade started, and he's done a tremendous job," Kennedy said. "We're looking forward to next year, and we will keep growing it. That's what it's all about: getting together and having a good time and honoring those people who do so much for our communities."
