TARRYTOWN, N.Y. Several ceremonies commemorating the anniversary of 9/11 will take place this weekend in the Tarrytown area. Find information on individual ceremonies below.
The Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow volunteer fire departments will host a joint ceremony Sunday, Sept. 9, beginning at 8:15 a.m. at Tarrytown's Main Street Firehouse.
The two departments will then march along Washington Street to Patriot's Park, where they will conduct another short ceremony.
The Village of Irvington will have a ceremony at the 9/11 memorial on Sunday, Sept. 9 at 8:30 p.m. The memorial is located at the south end of Scenic Hudson Park.
Westchester County will hold a ceremony Tuesday, Sept. 11, at 7 p.m. at the countys 9/11 memorial The Rising, located at Kensico Dam Plaza in Valhalla.
County Executive Rob Astorino, other elected officials and families of the 111 Westchester residents who died that day are expected to attend.
The event will include a candle-lighting ceremony to honor those lost during the tragedy 11 years ago.
The event will be held during the twilight hours to allow residents to attend other 9/11 memorials being held around the county.
