Tarrytown Police Charge Two With Drug Possession

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. – Two men were charged with several counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance after police conducted a traffic stop on South Broadway.

William M. Tyler, 33, and Juntai Sowells, 33, remain in the Westchester County Jail. Tyler is being held on $5,000 bail. Sowells remains in jail on no bail. 

Tyler and Sowells were stopped around 7 p.m. on Feb. 4 at the intersection of Route 9 and I-87. A third passenger in the car was cited for unlawful possession of marijuana and released. 

The following items were also reported by police:

Car Accident: A police officer reported that a police car and a Tappan Zee Express bus were involved in an accident near the intersection of Cortlandt Street and Wildey Street.

Stuck in Elevator: A woman reported that she was stuck in the elevator at the Tarrytown Train Station around 2 a.m. on Feb. 7.

Bathroom Burglar: Tarrytown police charged a man for theft after he locked himself in an employee bathroom at the 7-Eleven and refused to come out around 1 a.m. on Feb. 6. When police arrived, the man tried to run out of the store. Police found he had eight 5-hour energy drinks in his jacket pockets that had not been paid for, worth about $30.

Smoking: Firefighters were called to the Sheraton Hotel around 1 a.m. on Feb. 4 when the sixth floor fire alarm was activated. They later discovered the alarm had been set off by a person smoking in the hallway.

Gas Smell: The Transfiguration Church reported smelling a natural gas odor in their parking lot around 2 p.m. on Feb. 3.

Party Bus: Security officials at the EF School reported that a party bus may be transporting underage students who possessed alcohol around 9 p.m. on Feb. 2. Police found numerous underage alcohol violations on the bus. The bus operator was taking the students back to the school and confiscated the remaining alcohol.

Stolen Equipment: A tamping machine was reported stolen from the Hudson Harbor Condominiums site around 11 a.m. on Feb. 2. Police have filed a grand larceny case.
