TARRYTOWN -- Algae have bloomed in the Tarrytown Lakes, which is why it looks a little bit different.
According to Village Administrator Michael Blau during Mondays Board of Trustees meeting, the algae are a result of a power outage that caused the aeration system to shut down for a week.
Weve turned the aeration system back on, Blau said. We now have a system in place where we make sure that we have power to the aeration system every day.
He added that weeds and algae have floated to the surface after measures were taken to get rid of the algae. The green plants visible on the surface are pretty much all dying off, he said.
The system is working, and its doing what it needs to do.
