Tarrytown Firefighters Announce Memorial Car Show

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. -- Tarrytown firefighters are once again gearing up to honor the memories of two of its volunteers with a car, truck and bike show fundraiser.

The Second Annual Anthony Ruggiero and John Kelly Memorial Car, Truck and Bike Show will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 8, members of the Consolidated Engine Company said.

Tarrytown firefighter John Kelly and village worker Anthony Ruggiero died in a manhole accident behind Consolidated Engine Company in 2010.

Proceeds from the car show will be used to pay for a scholarship in Ruggiero and Kelly's names. Event organizers say the Sleepy Hollow High School scholarship will be based on community service and the student's grade point average.

Last year's car show took place on Green Street by the Tarrytown Train Station. This year's show has been moved to Main Street between Broadway and Windle Park Drive. Event organizers say there will be food, drinks, music and raffles in addition to vendors, trophies and cars. Judging will begin at 12:30 p.m., with 33 trophies in 21 categories up for grabs.

Motorists who want to participate in the show can register their cars and trucks for $20 and motorcycles for $15.

Donations can be sent via PayPal at arjkcarshow.com or to Consolidated Engine 77, 177 Sheldon Ave., Tarrytown, NY 10591.
