SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. Village officials praised the work of the Sleepy Hollow Police Department during the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade , which brought out an estimated 5,000 people.
There was not a single reported incident during or after the parade involving participants or viewers," Trustee David Schroedel reported at Tuesday's Board of Trustees meeting. Schroedel chairs the Police Advisory Committee. I think it's a testament to the police department, DPW and the village.
The St. Patrick's Day Parade took place in both Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow on Sunday, with parade marchers travelling down Route 9 and onto Beekman Avenue before stopping at Kendal Avenue. Visitors and residents from throughout Westchester came to watch or participate in the parade.
Schroedel noted that police had to tow five vehicles from the parade route before the event. Although many of the thousands of people who lined up on Beekman Avenue had been consuming alcohol, police did not report any incidents. Schroedel described at as "amazing.
Hats off to them, Schroedel said.
