Sleepy Hollow VP Reflects at Leadership Breakfast

Women throughout Westchester were treated to a morning of encouragement and inspiration Tuesday when Go Red for Women hosted a leadership breakfast at The Renaissance Hotel in Harrison. The event was part of a series in collaboration with the American Heart Association and featured a discussion panel of local professionals.

Speakers Leslie Lampert, Dr. Janet Taylor, and Robyn Stecher discussed their paths to success with moderator Maria Freburg. The conversation then opened to a question-and-answer session.

"I thought it was excellent," White Plains resident Barbara Cerf said. "Each speaker had a message that resonated personally with me."

Cerf, corporate vice president for the Women's Market at New York Life in Sleepy Hollow, organizes her own women's leadership meetings. She said the speakers' lessons in success relate to both personal and financial health in the working world.

"This program impressed me with the quality of the speakers in our own backyard," she said.

Lampert owns the Mount Kisco restaurant Ladle of Love and other metropolitan eateries. She spoke on the panel about her unconventional path to becoming a business owner.

"I think I was chosen because of the seismic shifts in my life," she said. "My message is that I'm the poster girl for possibilities. I'm here to share that life is a marathon and not a sprint."

Lampert started her professional career as a journalist and said drastic lifestyle changes brought her into her current work. She remains close to the American Heart Association and said all charitable donations were forwarded to the group after her father's death two months ago.

Taylor also spoke on the panel and said she was there to speak to women, for women.

"People underestimate the potential of heart disease, which often times is preventable," she said. "I hope that women found ways to take something away from this."
