Sleepy Hollow Surveys Damage From Irene

SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. – A group of onlookers watched the Hudson River from Horan's Landing in Sleepy Hollow Sunday morning. Waves with white crests were lapping angrily onto the shore while the Sleepy Hollow Fire Department's boat dock rocked up and down.

Elsewhere in the village, residents were picking up small tree limbs and leaves leftover from Tropical Storm Irene's visit.

Con Edison reported that 505 people were without powe r in Philipse Manor because of downed lines.

Firefighters near the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery had closed part of Route 9 going southbound in Philipse Manor because of a downed tree that landed on the cemetery's fence.

During the storm, Sleepy Hollow police noted that Route 9 between Lawrence Ave. and Pocantico St. had been flooding.
