SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. Sleepy Hollow is asking residents to conserve water after being notified that the Catskill Aqueduct will be shut down for 25 hours starting 11 p.m. Monday night.
The Village notified residents with a message from Department of Public Works General Foreman Richard Gross on its website and through an email alert.
Gross said the New York City Department of Environment Protection would be shutting down the aqueduct, which provides water to Sleepy Hollow, because the upstate reservoirs have suffered extremely high levels of turbidity in the system.
Sleepy Hollow is restricting lawn sprinklers and car washing until further notice.
