SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. Three Sleepy Hollow residents announced they'll be running for seats on the Board of Trustees during the March elections on the Sleepy Hollow Independent Party line.
Daniel Scott, David Bedell and Sean Roach will be running for seats currently held by incumbents Tom Capossela, Karin Wompa and David Schroedel. Village elections will take place on March 20.
We really want to open the government up to the community, Scott said. We want to have more discussions, have some sort of independent dissenting voices, that sort of thing. We want to bring positive leadership to the village.
The candidates are focusing on bringing independent voices to the board and making things more transparent in addition to more specific issues such downtown revitalization, Scott said. They also want to look at restructuring village committees so that more residents will have an opportunity to voice their opinions, concerns and ideas.
David Bedell moved to Sleepy Hollow about a decade ago and works as a computer programmer. He currently chairs the Sleepy Hollow Environmental Advisory Council. Bedell lives in Webber Park and has been active in supporting Douglas Park.
Sean Roach has lived in Sleepy Hollow for about six months and covered the community for several years as a reporter for Patch. Roach currently lives in the inner-village and works in the public relations department of the National Kidney Association.
Daniel Scott moved to Sleepy Hollow in 2006. He currently works at Chadbourne & Parke, a law firm based in New York City. Scott lives in Ichabod's Landing and has been recently vocal in his support for the village's Architectural Review Board, which village trustees have considered eliminating as part of a village code overhaul. Scott ran for and lost the village mayoral spot.
