Sleepy Hollow Police SUV Involved in Accident

A Sleepy Hollow police SUV crashed into a 2000 Toyota Avalon Wednesday evening around 5 p.m. at the intersection of Route 9 and Pocantico Street.

The police SUV was responding to a possible fire on Kelbourne Avenue with the Sleepy Hollow Fire Department.

According to Sleepy Hollow Chief of Police Gregory Campo, the police officer in the SUV was turning northbound on Route 9 from Pocantico Street with sirens and lights on when the crash occurred.

The driver of the Toyota had stopped at the light for the fire trucks that drove past, but Campo said when “they went by, she starting going again” and hit the SUV.

Campo said it looked as if the driver did not look for a police car after the fire trucks drove past.

Both drivers refused medical attention, Campo said, and no injuries were reported.
