Dear Sleepy Hollow Residents,

I am pleased to announce that the Mayor's Budget for fiscal year 2015-16 has been released. This draft budget will serve as the outline for budget discussions by the Board of Trustees over the next few weeks. (State) law requires that the Village's official budget be adopted by Thursday, April 30.

Copies of the Mayor's Budget are available at Village Hall-second floor-finance department, and on the Village website at www.sleepyhollowny.gov.

As I wrote you in the State of the Village (in February) last month, I focused on four areas: property tax relief; ensuring that Village staffing needs are properly being met; beginning a comprehensive master plan; and enhancing programs for our seniors.

Here is what you will see in this budget: property taxes for 1-3 family homes will be reduced by two percent.

Staffing for departments have been vetted by our Department Heads and I added full time positions in Public Works, the Police Department and in Village Hall;  $100,000 in funding for the initial phase of a master plan; and funding for senior programs has been doubled.

I encourage you to come to our Board meetings on Tuesdays, March 31, April 7 and April 14, so that the Board of Trustees and I will have your input as we work to adopt this budget.

Sincerely,

Ken Wray
