Sister Marie Goldstein, Rshm, Passes Away

Sister Marie Goldstein RSHM, 83, also known as Sister M. Louis, died September 11, 2011.

A Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary for 65 years, she was a member of the Marymount Convent Community in Tarrytown, NY, at the time of her death. 

Sister Marie taught at St. Mary’s School, Long Island City, NY; Sacred Heart of Mary Academy, Bronx, NY; Academy of the Sacred Heart of Mary, Sag Harbor, NY; and St. Nicholas of Tolentine, Queens, NY. She also taught at Corvallis and Marymount School in California and Seton Hill College in Pennsylvania.

She ministered in retreat centers in South Bend, IN; Richmond, VA; and Pevely, MO.

She was dedicated to interfaith relations among Christians, Jews, and Muslims, working in Israel with the Hope Ecumenical Seminar and the Prophet Elias Center and in the USA with the Diocese of Louisville KY.

Sister Marie is survived by her brothers Arthur, James, and William Goldstein. She was predeceased by her parents as well as her brother Robert.

Services at Marymount Convent, 32 Warren Avenue, Tarrytown, NY. Visiting Thursday, September 15, 3:00 - 7:30 pm, Vigil Service 7:30 pm. Mass of Christian Burial, Friday, September 16, 10:30 am. Burial Mount Calvary Cemetery, White Plains. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her name may be made to Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary, 50 Wilson Park Drive, Tarrytown, NY, 10591.
