The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert on Friday to Westchester County residents regarding the residency of 45-year-old James Johnson, who has moved into an apartment on Howard Street in Peekskill.
The Division of Criminal Justice Services has assigned Johnson as a level two threat, which means he is at "moderate risk of a repeat offense."
According to the Division of Criminal Justice Services, Johnson had sexual intercourse and contact with his 15-year-old female victim - who was known to him - in Westchester in September 2009. He was arrested by the Peekskill City Police Department and sentenced to 10 years probation in May 2010 on a third-degree rape charge. He remains under the jurisdiction of the Peekskill Police Department under the guise of the Westchester County Probation office.
