Traffic on Route 9 in Irvington was detoured by the Irvington Police Department Tuesday afternoon after a truck collided with a telephone pole at the intersection of Harriman Road and South Broadway.
Irvington Police Chief Michael P. Cerone said the accident happened around 1 p.m. The trucks collision severed the telephone pole, causing the electric wires to droop dangerously. No injuries were reported.
Route 9 traffic was being diverted onto Sycamore Lane and Harrison Road.
Con Edison was on the scene around 2:30, and Cerone said it was just a matter of getting them straightened out and they could fix the pole.
Theyve got to do their job now, he said.
