The on-ramp was originally closed on Thursday Dec. 5 and was scheduled to remain closed until the new bridge is completed in 2018, but brutal traffic delays forced the Thruway Authority to reopen the ramp, LoHud.com reported.
The Thruway authority said much of the delays came from holiday shopping traffic, bad weather and several crashes helped create the traffic nightmare, according to LoHud.com.
