IRVINGTON, N.Y. Irvington residents will have plenty of opportunities this week to get involved with the search for a new superintendent as school board officials host three public forums beginning Sunday.
The board has scheduled three public meetings during the third week of November. These open forums will be used to gather information on what the community would like to see in a new superintendent, the school district announced Monday. The forums will be moderated by search consultants Hazard, Young, Attea and Associates.
The schedule of forums is:
Sunday, November 13 from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Dows Lane Multi-Purpose Room
Monday, November 14 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Dows Lane Multi-Purpose Room
Tuesday, November 15 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the Dows Lane Multi-Purpose Room.
The new superintendent will replace Interim Superintendent Robert Roelle, who was hired when Kathleen Matusiak suddenly retired after seven years on the job. Roelle has agreed to stay for one year while the Board of Education conducts its search.
School board officials hope to hire a permanent replacement by February 2012 to begin working on or before July 1, 2012.
The board is also asking community members to complete an online survey on the desired characteristics they want in a new superintendent.
