TARRYTOWN, N.Y. – Con Edison has five crews working in Tarrytown to restore power to the more than 1,400 customers in the village without electricity and a sixth crew conducting emergency work on Union Avenue, officials said Saturday afternoon.
About 27 percent of Tarrytown does not have power.
“With five restoration crews in the village, we anticipate that this percentage will continue to decrease throughout the afternoon,” an update from the village said.
Officials also warned that Con Edison might have to temporarily cut power to some areas to fix nearby outages.
The Public Schools of the Tarrytowns announced Saturday that it would open the Sleepy Hollow High School locker rooms for residents to take a hot shower. Shower facilities are available from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
The EF School has also opened as a warming center, providing food, charging stations and hot showers.
Village officials said power had been restored to all gas stations, but only the Hess and Shell stations on Route 9 had gas delivered on Saturday afternoon. The fuel situation is expected to be back to normal within the next 48 hours, officials said.
