Kathy Halas has been elected as its new president of the board of directors. Halas currently is the executive director of the Child Care Council of Westchester, Inc., a founding member organization of NPW.
In addition, Terry Kirchner, executive director of the Westchester Library System, was elected vice president of the board of directors.
Additionally, four new members were elected to the NPW board of directors: Tracy Kay, executive director of Westchester Children’s Museum; Alisa Kesten, executive director of Volunteer New York; Maria Imperial, CEO of the YWCA of White Plains and Central Westchester and Greg Maher, executive director of Leviticus 25:23 Alternative Fund.
“Kathy has been an integral part of our organization since we first started. We are so pleased to now have her lead the Board,” said Joanna Straub, NPW executive director. “Terry, Tracy, Alisa, Maria and Greg will also bring new ideas to our team this year. We look forward to 2015 being a year of new ideas and a fresh perspective on how we can continue to grow awareness of the nonprofit sector in Westchester.”
Halas has served as executive director of the Child Care Council of Westchester, Inc. since February of 2003. The council is part of a national network of child care resource and referral agencies that promote high-quality and affordable early care and education as a catalyst for family self-sufficiency, school readiness and work force preparedness.
Previously, Halas served as deputy director of the Supportive Housing Network, vice president of Shelter Operations for Westhab, Inc., and director of St. Bernard’s Head Start Center.
