Noise Complaint Interrupts Sleepy Hollow Wedding

SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. – One happy couple's wedding had some unexpected guests: Sleepy Hollow Police.

The wedding taking place at the gazebo in Kingsland Point Park on August 20 around 1:30 p.m. It was briefly interrupted by police after a caller complained about noise and asked if they needed a permit.

Police went to the park and found a dozen people in the midst of the wedding ceremony. Officers didn't observe any violations and police logs note that “those in attendance were orderly and cooperative.”

Other items in the police blotter...

Assistant Chief Patrick Haggerty reported that a person was burning wood with an open flame on Valley St. around 11 a.m. On August 21. Police issued a summons for open burning.

A resident on Chestnut St. reported on August 21 around 1:30 a.m. that someone went into his apartment. Police reported that there may have been a burglary, but nothing appeared to be missing at the time. They noted two pictures were broken on the floor.

Hollywood North Pizza and Pasta called police around 7:30 p.m. On August 19, reporting that they were having a problem with a patron over the use of extra plastic cups. The patron agreed to leave the pizzeria and not return.

A resident on New Broadway reported that her telephone lines had detached from her house and were in the roadway on August 18 around 2 p.m. The woman was holding the lines up so vehicles wouldn't drive over them. Police notified the Department of Public Works.

One Valley St. resident reported that he was robbed while sleeping around 8:30 a.m. On August 17. officers interviewed the man, who said his good friend Russell took $500. Police say the man kept changing the amount of money stolen, first to $750 and then to $1,250. Police also noted that the man didn't have a description of Russell and that the address where he claimed Russell resided but no one by that name of lived there.

Police picked up three youths on August 15 around 9:45 p.m. For throwing a garbage pail and slamming gates in Barnhart Park. Police brought the youths to headquarters and called their parents.

A man was arrested for driving while intoxicated after an officer reported that there was a car parked at by the gas pumps at the Citgo Gas Station on N. Broaday around 2:45 a.m. On August 14. The officer reported that the vehicle was running, loud music was playing and the man appearing to be sleeping at the wheel.
