Longtime Sleepy Hollow Resident Scappaticci Dies

Erminio Scappaticci, a longtime Sleepy Hollow resident, died June 18, at the age of 83.

Born in Santopadre, Italy on July 27, 1927, he was the son of Gaetano and Celesta Scappaticci. He served in the Italian Armed Forces during World War II.On April 22, 1950, he married Emilia Scappaticci in Italy. After the family settled in the United States he became a baker for Birrittella’s Bakery in Tarrytown.

Scappaticci was a member of the Sleepy Hollow Seniors and the ITALO Club.Erminio is survived by Emilia, his wife of 61 years and his children Antonio (Bonnie) of Bristol, CT, Anna of Tarrytown, Gaetano (Anna) of Scarsdale and Folco (Lucy) of Bristol, CT. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and his sister Anita in Italy.Visitation will be at Coffey Funeral Home Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. His Funeral Mass will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church. Entombment will follow in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
