The awards ceremony starts at 7 p.m., Saturday, March 15, at Sleepy Hollow High School. Representatives said the ceremony should attract nearly 2,000 parents, participants, teachers and friends. More than 350 students from 33 area high schools in Westchester and Putnam counties will present their science research projects at the 14th annual Regeneron - Westchester Science and Engineering Fair, sponsored by Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Acorda Therapeutics & Entergy.

Students will showcase their multi-year research science projects in a competitive venue featuring individual and team poster presentations, representatives said. They will be judged by local experts in the fields of life science, physical science, environmental studies, psychology and engineering. The Science Fair is open to the public from 3 to 4 p.m.

“As both a judge and host of the new Acorda Scientific Excellence Award program, I have gotten to know some of these outstanding students,” said Wexler. “Their creativity and dedication is inspirational, and I look forward to seeing the wide array of projects that will be showcased at the WESEF Fair."

Michael Blueglass, president and founder of WESEF, said the group is excited to have Wexler emcee the event.

“Lisa Wexler has been directly involved with the science research students in our area as she has been hosting the winners of the Acorda Scientific Excellence Award on her radio show since the fall,” said Blueglass. “With Lisa's enthusiasm and interest in STEM [Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics] education we are excited for her to take the spotlight and host our awards ceremony. At WESEF, our students have the opportunity to present their graduate level research projects to local professionals with the hopes of winning some of the top awards given out by the numerous and very supportive WESEF sponsors.”

Wexler is the host of The Lisa Wexler Show, airing daily on WFAS-AM 1230, from 4 to 6 p.m, as well as the host of the Acorda Scientific Excellence Award program, airing on Sundays on WFAS-AM 1230. Wexler is also a Connecticut probate judge.
