IRVINGTON, N.Y. – John B. (Jack) Nolan II, formerly of Irvington, N.Y., passed away quietly in his sleep Dec. 14, 2012. The son of John B. and Maisie Nolan, he was born in New York City on Jan. 15, 1920.
A World War II veteran, he served on the staff of General J. Stilwell, commander of the China-Burma-India Theater. In 1944, he married Margaret "Peggy" O'Mara, the love of his life and wife for 64 glorious years.
He was a multi-talented artist, devoted husband, and amazing father, brother, Pop-Pop, cousin, uncle, and friend.
Jack is survived by his loving sister Kathleen Dunn; children Charles Nolan and wife Cheryl, Kenneth Nolan and soul mate Jean Aschenbrenner, Margaret Mays and husband Mickey, and John B. Nolan III and wife Robbin; grandchildren Christine, David, Beth and Gabrielle; great-grandchildren Lindsey, Nolan, Bridget, Katelyn, Amelia and Chloe. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Edward, Charles and James, sisters Kathlyn and Beatrice and his beloved Peggy.
A memorial and celebration of his life will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Jan. 11 at Edwards Dowdle Funeral Home, followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, N.Y.
