Irvington Sets Hearing On Assisted Living Facility

IRVINGTON, N.Y. – A draft environmental impact statement on a proposed assisted-living facility on the site of the former Foundation for Economic Education campus has been deemed complete by the Irvington Planning Board.

A public hearing on the draft statement will be held on March 7 at 8 p.m. at the Irvington Public Library. Written comments are also being accepted through email at fcostello@irvingtonny.gov. Residents will be able to comment on the proposed plan until at least March 17.

The proposed 105,000 square-foot Continuum facility would be situated on approximately four acres located at 30 South Broadway, south of Main Street and across from the intersection of Broadway and Harriman Road.

The facility would include 81 assisted-living units, 40 memory-care units, a fitness center, beauty salon, parking, walking paths and dining facilities.

The proposal also includes actions to revise Irvington's zoning code to allow the facility within the village's Multi-Family Zoning District. Hard copies of the proposal can be found in the Irvington Building Department and the Irvington Public Library.

Developers hope they will be able to incorporate the existing FEE building into the site, although an alternative proposal in the draft statement would demolish the building. The project is expected to bring in an estimated $600,000 in property taxes as well as 175 construction jobs and 81 permanent jobs, according to the draft statement.
