Irvington Says Superintendent Search In Process

IRVINGTON, N.Y. – The search consultants hired to find the new Irvington Superintendent are expected to come back with a list of candidates next year, School Board President John Dawson said at a recent Board of Education meeting.

“We can say that right now we were informed by HYA that they are going through all of the resumes they are receiving and by January we will be hearing from them,” Dawson said.

Irvington has hired search consultant firm Hazard, Young and Attea to find a permanent replacement for former Superintendent Kathleen Matusiak. Matusiak suddenly retired in July after seven years on the job.

Search consultants have gathered input from school officials and the Irvington community. The resulting leadership profile is available in the box to the right.

The consultants are expected to present several candidates for the school board for consideration in January. Irvington is expected to decide on a replacement by February so that the new superintendent can start on July 1, 2012.

“They are visibly at work searching for our candidates,” Dawson said.
