IRVINGTON, N.Y. ? All areas of the Irvington Public Library are now open, more than a month after the library received heavy water damage.
"Thank you so much for your concern, support and patience during this difficult period," Director Pamela Strachan said Friday. "Clean-up and repair work have been ably completed. I want to thank all who worked so hard to get us up and running again, and the dedicated library staff who managed to make the best of a trying situation."
A fire broke out in an apartment in the Burnham Building, which also houses the library, in late January. The fire activated the library's sprinkler system and caused water damage in many areas of the library.
Several portions of the library, including the Children's Room, reopened a few days after the fire, but the entire adult section and the reading room remained closed for several weeks.
