This plan is required by the Federal Emergency Management Agency in order to be eligible for federal grant funding for public and private mitigation projects.

The plan provides a blueprint by which local governments can make coordinated, cost-effective efforts toward reducing losses from natural hazards such as flooding and severe winter storms.

Available funding can support projects such as drainage improvements, structural elevations and backup power for schools and critical facilities.

To learn more, review the draft plan and have the opportunity to provide input, visit the project website at http://www.westchesterhmp.com and take the citizen preparedness and mitigation survey at www.surveymonkey.com/r/9L7XFJJ.
