Irvington Declares State of Emergency Ahead Of Sandy

IRVINGTON, N.Y. – Irvington Mayor Brian Smith declared a state of emergency Monday in advance of Hurricane Sandy.

Hurricane Sandy is expected to make landfall on the East Coast Monday evening.

Residents are encouraged to stay inside and avoid travel if possible as Sandy gets closer throughout the day and evening. Irvington officials have set up an emergency operation center with police and public works staff ready.

Irvington closed its village offices and the Irvington Public Library Monday.
