Irvington Bulldogs Beat Panthers at Ardsley

ARDSLEY, N.Y. — The Irvington Bulldogs beat the Ardsley Panthers 19-6 on the opponent's own turf Saturday afternoon.

Approximately 2,000 people turned out at Ardsley High School, with the smell of barbecue in the air and bellowing music that kept the crowd cheering even during game intervals.

Though the host’s blue-and-gold colors were predominant in the crowd, Bulldog supporters, donning green-and-white, had their own loud cheering sections, which became even louder in the third-quarter as Irvington – having finished the first half leading 7-6 – turned 13-6 with one more touchdown.

With five seconds left at the end of the game, the score was still 13-6 Irvington, when Bulldog’s quarterback Shoran Tamura “saw a hole in the Ardsley defense and ran right through it,” making it 19-6.

“I was supposed to scramble for five seconds, but I felt I could get a little more,” said Tamura, a junior.

Here are the some of the game’s statistics:

Irvington

--Sharon Tamura, quarterback: 2-3 passes for 17 yards, 185 rushing yards, three touchdowns, 1 yard, 1 yard and 60 yards

--Kevin Degnan: 17 carries, 75 yards

Ardsley

--Dan Stein, quarterback: 17-24 passes for 180 yards and a 12-yard touchdown pass to Gabe Kardish, the only to score

--Kardish caught six passes for 51 yards
