TARRYTOWN, N.Y. – It was a spooktacular night for the thousands who attended Saturday's Tarrytown Halloween Parade and Block Party dressed in their favorite costumes.
The annual parade featured about a dozen floats, several bands and hundreds of costumed kids marching down Route 9 in Tarrytown to cheering crowds. Parade marchers began at Patriot's Park and continued to Main Street, where the Tarrytown Recreation Department hosted a block party with food, music and more.
The Headless Horseman sauntered ahead of marchers while members of the Tarrytown Fire Department brought up the rear. Members of the Sleepy Hollow High School band thrilled crowds with their rendition of Michael Jackson's “Thriller.”
This was the first year for the recreation department's revamped parade and block party and a year after a freak October snowstorm canceled the 2011 parade.
