TARRYTOWN, N.Y. The new fitness playground at Washington Irving Intermediate School was supposed to be installed Saturday morning by a team of parents and volunteers.
Hurricane Irene has changed things.
Valiant Volunteers, EPTA co-president David Neilsen wrote in an email to volunteers, We spend all year planning, raising money, and preparing to build a playground, and then get the worst storm in over a century. Figures.
Neilsen said the playground build has been postponed to Saturday, Sept. 10 at 7:30 a.m.
It is supposed to be raining by Saturday morning, so we felt it best to hold off for now, Neilsen wrote. (With our luck, now that we've called it, it will stay sunny and clear until the late afternoon or evening).
