After a costly restoration and repair, the 106-foot sloop resumed its commission as a Hudson River fixture amid a small celebration Sunday in Cold Spring. Officials for the organization overseeing the sloop, Hudson Valley Sloop Clearwater, spent nearly $900,000 to restore the ship, and more work is forthcoming, lohud.com says.

Built in the 1960s by Seeger, the folk singer and social activist, the sloop's main purpose is to offer a glimpse of the natural beauty of the Hudson to inspire people to preserve it.
