IRVINGTON, N.Y. Kristopher M. Harrison has been chosen as the next Superintendent for the Irvington Union Free School District, school officials announced early Tuesday morning.
Harrison is the current superintendent of the Mendham Township School District in New Jersey, a position he has held since 2008. Harrison will be appointed to the position in a special meeting held Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Irvington Public Library. A brief reception will be held immediately following the meeting.
We are extremely pleased that Dr. Harrison will be joining the Irvington School District as superintendent, School Board President John Dawson said in a press release. Dr. Harrison impressed the Board with his vision, innovative thinking and hands-on approach to education leadership. His track record in the Mendham School District reflects his emphasis on student achievement.
Harrison will take over the superintendent position on July 1.

Together with the talented school staff, the dedicated Board and the supportive community, we will strive to expand opportunities for our students while continuing to serve the Irvington School District proudly.
Harrison has previously served as principal of Maplewood Middle School in Maplewood, N.J. And the Walter O. Krumbiegle Middle School in Hillside, N.J.
Harrison received a doctoral degree from the College of Saint Elizabeth, a master's degree from Rutgers University and a bachelors degree from Kean College of New Jersey.
Dawson said the school board was more than pleased with the outcome of its superintendent search. Harrison will take over the position from interim superintendent Robert Roelle.
Dr. Harrison is the right choice for our district, and we look forward to his leadership in taking our students to the next level of academic achievement, Dawson said.
