Halloween Chills, Treats Planned In Tarrytown, Sleepy Hollow

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. – There's no shortage of spooktacular Halloween events coming up in Tarrytown, Irvington and Sleepy Hollow — and many organizers are planning to come back better than ever from last year's freak October blizzard.

Tarrytown Recreation Supervisor Joe Arduino is one such person. Arduino and the Halloween Parade Committee have been recruiting people to march in this year's parade and getting merchants to help make the block party an even bigger success.

“Participation of the crowd and spectatorship have been good from the start,” Arduino said at the end of September. “So, we're trying to invigorate and get more people into the parade.”

The following is a guide to all of the local Halloween events taking place this week and next.

Lyndhurst, the Gothic mansion used to film the original “Dark Shadows” series, is hosting two special Halloween tours every day through October. The Lyndhurst After Dark tours let visitors see the mansion at night. The mansion's “Historic Tours with a Halloween Twist” begin at 10 a.m., every day and last for 50 minutes. Tickets are $25 for after-dark tours and $18 for Halloween tours.

Historic Hudson Valley hosts “Horseman's Hollow” at Philipsburg Manor, “Irving's Legend” at the Old Dutch Church and the Legend Celebration at Sunnyside through October. Tickets can be purchased online.
