Gas Drops Below $4 a Gallon in Sleepy Hollow

SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y.--Art Hidalgo was one of many people who bought gas at the BP Station in Sleepy Hollow Thursday afternoon, where regular gas was advertised as $3.95 a gallon.

Hidalgo was also most likely one of many people who wished gas prices were lower.

“They should be lower than that,” he said. “It’s still too high for me.”

For most of June, the price of gas had been more than $4 a gallon, causing many to tighten their belts and drive less. But recently that price has gone down.

In Sleepy Hollow Thursday, the lowest advertised price of a gallon of regular gas was the Citgo Station off of Route 9. Citgo was selling gas for $3.93 a gallon at the cash price. The BP and Getty stations were selling gas for $3.95 per gallon. The Mobil Station across from Sleepy Hollow High School was advertising gas for $3.99 a gallon.

Hidalgo said he hadn’t altered his driving habits that much, which is basically driving to work and back. Hidalgo works at Phelps Memorial Hospital and lives in Port Chester.

Hidalgo said Getty Stations usually have lower gas prices and that’s where he goes in Port Chester. Sleepy Hollow’s BP Station’s prices were “a little high” to him.

“I wish that they could go lower,” he said.
