ELMSFORD, N.Y. -- John Constantino, Sr., president of Elmsford Fire Company No. 1 and Frank Confalone, Sr., have engaged Fuller and D’Angelo PC, Architects and Planners of Elmsford, to create a campaign and design a sculpture to allow a section of a steel beam with shear studs from the World Trade Center towers to be displayed alongside the Fire Company Station.

The beam was recently received by the Fire Company from the Port Authority. The design conceived by Said Zomorrodian, chief designer at Fuller and D’Angelo, will include a smaller scale sculpture of a ghosted outline of the previous two tower buildings in stainless steel, encompassing the steel sectional fragment. Construction of the sculpture will be by the renowned artist Robert Perless of Greenwich, Conn. Contributions are being sought both locally and far away. Paramount Stone of Stamford is donating the granite-base pieces and other contributors of material and labor are lining up to participate.  Bricks and granite paving stones can be purchased for inclusion into the new sidewalk viewing area to be incorporated into the sculpture complex. Bricks are $500 and granite stones $1,000. The total cost of construction is currently set at $65,000 dollars.  Construction will start after permits are acquired from local authorities having jurisdiction.
