Mourners packed a funeral mass at the St. Teresa of Avila Church on Beekman Avenue. Many were wearing white ribbons to honor Rebello, a Sleepy Hollow High School graduate. Sleepy Hollow police had cordoned off the area surrounding the church to traffic during the ceremony, with a large media contingent camped across the street from the church.

Rebello was killed by a single bullet to the head by a Nassau County police officer during a police standoff with Dalton Smith, 30. Smith, an ex-con, had broken into Rebello's home and was using her as a human shield. Smith was also killed in the standoff.

Rebello's twin sister Jessica was also in the house when the home invasion occurred, but was not harmed.

The Rev. Osvaldo Franklin lead Wednesday's service in Rebello's home parish.

Rebello is survived by her twin sister, parents, grandparents and numerous other relatives. She was interred at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery following the funeral mass.
