The complaint accuses John Ashe, 61, former president of the United National General Assembly and ambassador from Antigua and Barbuda, of taking bribes from Chinese real estate mogul Ng Lap Seng, according to Newsday, and other media outlets.

Ashe has been charged with failing to report more than $1 million in taxes, Newsday reported.

Newsday also reported that Ashe is accused of using the bribe money for expensive watches, a trip to New Orleans, and a $30,000 basketball court at his Westchester home. Ng faces bribery and conspiracy charges.
