TARRYTOWN, N.Y. -- An accident that initially blocked two lanes on the Tappan Zee Bridge span has resulted in heavy delays stretching into Westchester on Tuesday afternoon.

The accident, on the northbound New York State Thruway at the bridge span, was reported at 4:20 p.m.

Stop-and-go delays are stretching back to I-287 in White Plains.
