TARRYTOWN, N.Y. -- Gov. Andrew Cuomo said the state will appeal the EPA's rejection of $481 million in loans that were slated to go to the new Tappan Zee Bridge project, according to LoHud.com.

The EPA rescinded most of the $511 million loan on Tuesday, saying seven of the 12 projects that were slated to be funded by the funding, including the removal of the current bridge and the relocation of a falcon's nest to the new span didn't qualify because they weren't water quality projects, LoHud.com reported.

Cuomo said the bridge's completion is not dependent upon these loans and the outcome of the appeal will not have an impact on construction, LoHud.com said.
