There was a contract with the village, but Citibank refused to extend the contract when it expired in December. This could affect downtown merchants, as many people made use of this parking lot. Wachovia owned it before selling to Citibank, and when Wachovia closed, it left the lot open for use by the public.
Moving trucks were at the site Tuesday and removed everything. The crew removed every sign, banner and etching on the door. Nothing indicates Citibank ever owned it or was there. The ATM was closed, too.
The crew put up a gate and chain at the parking lot. The opening barely fits a car through. While there isn't a sign posted telling the cars to leave by a certain date, it appears the lot will be gated once all the cars are out.
