Car Fire, Vandalism Prompt Sleepy Hollow Police Investigation

SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. – A Public Works pickup truck was in flames Sunday afternoon when police officers responded to a report of a car fire at the General Motors, Sleepy Hollow Police Chief Gregory Camp said.

The Sleepy Hollow Fire Department extinguished the fire, but Camp said police officers noticed that several other village-owned cars “were damaged, with broken windows and lights.” They had been entered and had their contents removed, the chief said.

Police are investigating the incidents as arson and criminal mischief cases, he said. Police have not determined how many vehicles were damaged or what property was taken, Camp said.
