Boycotts Threaten Cosby's Upcoming Shows After Tarrytown Canceled

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. – Greenburgh brothers-in-law Emilio and Phillip planned to boo and heckle Bill Cosby at his upcoming show at Tarrytown Music Hall if they didn’t get refunds for the five tickets they purchased for one of the two shows planned for Saturday, Dec. 6.

He was “simply uncomfortable with the allegations.”

“One person claiming this to have happened you would think 'OK, probably not true. Someone looking for a payday,'’’ said Emilio.

“But for what has amounted to something like 20 with the same complaint, sounds like he did it, along with his refusal to give his side of story.”

Cosby eventually agreed to “postpone” the Tarrytown shows on Wednesday, Dec. 3, and refund ticket holders’ money.

Tarrytown Music Hall issued a noticed to ticket holders on Wednesday saying Saturday’s shows were ‘”postponed.”

Both Tarrytown Music Hall and AM Productions have declined to comment any further and advise if the shows are permanently canceled or if they will be rescheduled. The shows are still posted on Cosby’s website.

His three upcoming shows in Canada in January are still scheduled, but are being boycotted by locals as his Westchester shows were.

Megan Walker, executive director of the London Abused Women’s Centre in London, Canada, told The Associated Press that if Cosby doesn’t cancel his shows at Budweiser Gardens on Jan. 8, there would be a protest.

“To have him appear in public is inconsistent with the values of London,” Walker told AP. “We need to stand on the side of women who have the courage to come forward, instead of Mr. Cosby. Very clearly from what we heard, he isn’t Cliff Huxtable.”

The 77-year-old comedian has not been charged in any of the allegations made by about 20 women who say Cosby sexually assaulted them.

Cosby was sued on Tuesday, Dec. 2, by a woman who claims Cosby sexually molested and gave her alcohol at the Playboy Mansion when she was 15 in the 1970s. Attorney Gloria Allred is calling on the actor to set aside $100 million for his alleged victims or face them in court, according to CNN.com.

“The Cosby Show” father settled a case in 2006 with a different woman who said Cosby drugged and then assaulted her.

“He may or may not in the legal sense have done what it is claimed he did, but where there is smoke, and there is a lot of it, usually means there is fire,” said Emilio.

Others, including Daily Voice commenters, say Cosby should be considered innocent until proven guilty.
