Abinanti made the request this week through a letter to DOT Commissioner Joan McDonald. Abinanti said “the barrage of severe snowstorms, punctuated by intermittent warm weather, has destroyed the surface of our state roadways in Westchester,” according to a release.

Abinanti noted that none of the state roads have been spared the ravages of the winter weather, from the Sprain Brook Parkway and Taconic State Parkway to the smaller routes, according to the release. Abinanti said that while there may be challenges, he concluded that "the extreme weather is what requires that the department make an extra special effort to patch potholes before they cause serious accidents," according to the release.

“The cracks have become craters and the craters are now a safety hazard,” said Abinanti. “The State needs to fill the potholes immediately.”
