IRVINGTON, N.Y. Ameed Asker had just started his shift at Irvington Stationery, but he was already anticipating he would sell a lot of lottery tickets.
I expect a lot of people to come in and play the Powerball, he said.
Lottery officials will draw for a record-setting $320 million jackpot Wednesday at 10:59 p.m. The prize is Powerball's fourth-biggest annuity prize ever and has a cash value of $213.3 million.
Asker said he had been seeing more people than usual in the store as the jackpot grew.
People come in every day, but especially this week and last week, a lot of people have been coming, he said. It's good for business.
The chance of winning the jackpot is 1 in 175,223,510, according to the New York State Lottery, and the prize will increase if no one wins Wednesday's drawing. Powerball drawings take place on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
I expect a lot more people next week than this week, Asker said of the chance the prize could grow larger.
